Welcome to Georgia

We explore Tbilisi and Mtskheta and then journey to the heart of the Caucasus Mountains where we and enjoy the magnificent scenery of Mt Kazbek and its eternal snows. We visit some of the most famous cave-towns and monasteries in Georgia known for ancient history, original architecture and fresco including Gelati Temple in Kutaisi and David Gareja Monastery. The trip to Kakheti is the perfect end to the holiday and offers some of the best tasting and most historic Georgian wines.

Itinerary: Day 1: Arrive Tbilisi. Day 2: Full day city tour of Tbilisi with excursions to the old part of the city, major museums, churches and architectural monuments, and other sites of this fascinating city. Overnight in Tbilisi. Day 3: Excursion to Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia. We continue driving along the river Aragvi Valley and Georgian Military Highway. On the road visit Ananuri architectural complex.  We cross the Greater Caucasus down to Kazbegi (Stepantsminda). Explore the area and enjoy the views of the surrounding summits, including Mt. Kazbek. Overnight in Kazbegi or in Gudauri. Day 4: Visit the town of Gori. Excursion to Uplistsikhe ancient cave town. Continue trip to western part of the country. Arrive in Kutaisi. Day 5: Excursions in and around Kutaisi: visit Bagrati Cathedral and Gelati Monastery. On the way back to Tbilisi visit Ubisi church. Overnight in Tbilisi. Day 6: Excursion to David Gareja Monastery. Visit Sighnaghi hill-town. Stay in Telavi or in Kvareli.  Day 7: Excursions in Kakheti including Gremi Church, Alaverdi Cathedral, Tsinandali and Shuamta Monastery. Optional visit to a winery. Return to Tbilisi.  Day 8: End of the tour.
